I'm not one to really post political stuff on my blog, but I really feel as if I have to mention something about this. Earlier today I read this article about a billboard in Missouri portraying Obama in what I would call a racist stereotype. To me this is 100% WRONG. Instead of attacking Obama's policies, they are attacking him as a person based primarily on his race. And deeper down, they're attacking all Blacks, those of Middle Eastern descent, and Muslims in general. Racism is wrong. Period. There is no middle ground, it is wrong. I'm all for freedom of speech, it is one of the staples of America, but at some points, people take it too far. It is beyond a standard smear tactic, it is something that just hits me hard. I was raised to be tolerant and accepting of people no matter what race or religion they happen to be and to see this just makes me see how ignorant people can be and makes me second guess how far we as a country have progressed. |
