| Nigeria says NO to Bill Gates October 14, 2007 12:35am in offbeat |
![]() Apparently Bill Gates has been denied a Visa to enter Nigeria on his coming trip to Africa. Nigeria is apparently worried that he will decide to permanently reside there and drain on their resources. You almost wonder if Nigeria is just doing this to screw with him, cause I just don't see Bill Gates wanting to permanently reside in Nigeria. As one of the comments states "Apparently the Nigerian government wasn't a big fan of Windows Vista.. that or they're still recovering from Windows ME!" and that just made me laugh cause ME was crap and Vista is too damned bloated for its own, or anyone else's good. | Battlefield 3 October 10, 2007 11:38am in gaming |
![]() So I was just reading that EA is currently working on a new Battlefield game aside from Battlefield Bad Company. This game apparently follows the Battlefield 2 story arc with MEC vs NATO. But what this game brings to the table is much more. The maps are supposedly going to support 80 players, which means amazing 40 vs 40 rounds. They are also putting in 45+ vehicles. Considering how much I liked Battlefield Vietnam, 2, and 2142, putting in all the vehicles and making it a much more massive battle will make it all the better. The game is due out late 2008 with a beta supposedly in summer 08. Definitely a game I'll pick up. Tags: news, rumors, battlefield |

| Microsoft Threatening Linux Again October 09, 2007 10:50am in tech |
Steve Ballmer of Microsoft is running his mouth again against Linux. He is claiming (again) the Linux violates Microsoft's Intellectual Property and Linux distributions need to start paying up. I still like how Linus Torvalds handled it before pretty much telling Microsoft to name the patents being violated or to put a sock in it, and rightfully so. Microsoft still has yet to name the many patents that they claim Linux violates. They are probably doing this for the main reason that if they name the patents, then the Linux distros and company can either challenge the validity of the patent (many probably aren't valid), or simply find a work-around to avoid the infringement. This would then mean that Microsoft is not going to get what it wants...the money. It's almost absurd because if Microsoft really wants the money, they'd have to sue. Once it gets taken to court, Microsoft will have no choice but to name the violated patents, something Microsoft probably does not want to do. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but thats pretty much how I understand it. Full Story [vnunet.com] |

| Stupid German Thief October 08, 2007 12:28pm in offbeat |
| No one ever said criminals had to be smart, and this guy takes the cake. Apparently copper is worth something so this guy was going around and stealing copper wire. I think every person in their right mind knows that if you're gonna monkey around with electrical wiring, you should first cut the power to avoid electrocuting yourself. Simple thing to do, just flip a switch. Not this guy. He apparently figured that it can't hurt him. So much for that...he's now a crisp, deep-fried corpse. (gross I know). He decided to go after a live copper wire and got a nice 10,000 volt electric shock burning him beyond recognition. Makes catching the thief a bit easier I suppose.
