Indiana Jones in WoW
November 27, 2008 12:24am in gaming

It's well known in the gaming community, especially those into MMORPGs and World of Warcraft that Blizzard loves putting little easter eggs in WoW. Their reference to Bambi [wowwiki.com] is a perfect example of this. Well tonight I found an even greater one. You're in this what looks like an ancient temple, all of a sudden you see this guy locked in a cage...what's his name? Harrison Jones (for those of you who don't get it which I'm hoping is a small amount if any, Harrison Ford plays the character Indiana Jones in the popular movie series). You're tasked with escorting him out of the temple, although you don't really have to do much as he tends to fend for himself rather well. And of course he does a little bit of exploring and what does he run into, but a giant snake. And to top it all off, after the quest is done, he says "See ya around kid".

Well I've Entered Northrend
November 14, 2008 1:32am in gaming

I picked up World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King today and spent the evening playing around in the new area. It's been a lot smoother than I anticipated. Despite the large influx of players into the new zone, there has been little lag and the contention for kills/quest goals is suprisingly low so definitely a better experience than I had anticipated. I actually figured I'd go into the new zone, see a lot of bugginess and then just go back to Outlands and just work from there.

Since my wrist has sidelined me from console gaming, I guess I'll probably be spending a fair amount of time on WoW in the coming days.

Kudos to Circuit City
November 08, 2008 12:12pm in gaming

I know Circuit City isn't exactly doing how shall we put it, well right now, but they impressed me last night when I went to pick up Gears of War 2.

Circuit city was running a deal where you got 1600 Microsoft Points with your purchase of Gears of War 2. This was a pretty good deal considering 1600 Microsoft points cost $20, so for the game which cost $60 you pretty much got $80 worth of stuff. Well needless to say, by the time I got there after work, they were out of the Microsoft Points cards. So rather than just saying sorry, they went the extra mile and gave me a $20 gift card to make up for it. To me thats kind of impressive considering they could have used the "while supplies last" excuse and remove the deal. Now while its only a gift card, they still equalled it out in the end as I can always go back and use the gift card to buy the points later when they have the cards in stock.

Anywho, I got the card, I got the game, and I'm quite happy :-)

Seriously
November 03, 2008 11:34am in gaming

Seriously, there are too many games coming out in too short of a period. Fable 2, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, WoW:Wrath of the Lich King, Endwar all come out within 1 month of each other leaving me not enough hours in the day to play them.

All summer we had crap for game releases for the most part, and now, all these good games in such short time. Oh well such is life and such is what seems like a neglected blog.

Halo Wars Trailer
October 04, 2008 3:24pm in gaming

I've said it before, I'm not quite sure how I feel about a real time strategy game being played on a console with a controller. I always feel RTS games require a mouse and keyboard. Halo Wars is doing just this. I'm hoping they might find some way to pull it off. Definitely worth a rental to try it out, but I don't know if I'll even buy it. It may be Halo, but its the wrong platform in my opinion since there's no PC version of it. Either way, this trailer was released. Enjoy!
