For any wondering, I removed the user section of the site, I decided that maintaining user accounts was a little overkill. Your comments are still there, and you can still comment, the creation of a profile just has been removed, if you have any thoughts, let me know.

Another Teaser for Rainbow Six Vegas 2
January 11, 2008 2:20pm in gaming

In what is probably one of my most anticipated games of 2008, Ubisoft has now released another teaser trailer for Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. While it is all CG, it still looks sweer and I'm anxious to see some in-game footage.

Until Someone Wins the HD Format War, We All Lose
January 11, 2008 10:32am in tech

One week ago, Warner studios, previously releasing movies on both HD DVD and Blu-ray dropped HD DVD and became Blu-ray exclusive. This move triggered what many believe to be the beginning of the end of HD DVD because currently only Universal and Paramount are studios releasing movies to HD DVD. Paramount is said to have a contract that will now allow them to opt-out of their exclusivity contract, and the exclusivity contract with HD DVD and Universal possibly appears to be expired, so that has left a lot of questions on the future of HD DVD. Paramount and Universal have since stated that they are still committed to HD DVD which may only prolong the HD format war. To add fire to the flames, Microsoft is standing behind HD DVD as well, and even produce an HD DVD drive for the XBOX 360.

But whichever side you look at it, this HD format war is horrible for the consumer. Right now, while this is being prolonged, the consumer loses. Many people, and rightfully so, are hesitant to buy a high def DVD player be it Blu-ray or HD DVD or fear of the other format winning and then being stuck with today's equivalent of the Betamax. The players aren't cheap either so if someone were to buy for the losing format, they'd be out a sizeable amount of money. Until one format becomes the true standard, we, the consumers are pretty much stuck. Do we go with Blu-ray or HD DVD? I mean right now, Blu-ray seems like it will be the winner, but who's to say HD DVD is somehow magically going to make a comeback and either prolong the war much longer or overtake Blu-ray entirely. Yes, right now that does not look possible, or even plausible, but at the same time, it's not outside the realm of possibilities.

In the end, we need one format, and personally even though I have an HD DVD player and not a Blu-ray, I can honestly say I don't really care who wins. Both formats look amazing, and if Blu-ray wins out, I'll pick up a Blu-ray player. I just want to be able to buy one format and be done with it.

I Can't Help But To...
January 11, 2008 8:50am in offbeat

So this [Gizmodo.com] has been going around for a couple days now and I can't help but laugh. It's childish, immature, and wrong on so many levels, but as much as I try, I still can't help but laugh my ass off.

It almost makes me wonder how much Gizmodo wants to go to CES in 2009.

Back Into WoW
January 08, 2008 10:25am in gaming

So a little under a month ago, I decided to get back into World of Warcraft as I had a lot of fun with it previously. Tonight I think after dinner and when I finish my laundry, I think I'm gonna be getting on my level 70 mage and see what havoc I can bring on. I played a bit on my level 39 warrior last night and I haven't really done much with my mage as of late so I figure get some playing time in there. I still need to figure out what I exactly need to do for Kara as it seems to be a pretty popular thing for 70s.

Work is going slow today, hope it speeds up a bit.

Half Life 2
January 07, 2008 11:03pm in gaming

So for like the 3rd or 4th time, I'm starting to go through Half Life 2, this time back on my PC after my last attempt was on the 360. PC just feels better for the game and so far I'm picking it right back up. I got several games on my plate right now, perhaps too many heh. Unreal Tournament 3, Call of Duty 4, Orange Box, Halo 3, and hell, I just played Rainbow Six Vegas again tonight. I think I'm set for the most part for a while as there's even more games I still need to run through...Hell I haven't even beat Gears of War yet. Oh well, it will definitely keep me occupied for a while, which lately is what I need.
