| NASA Tracking Air Leak in International Space Station November 29, 2007 at 7:45am in science |
SPACE.COM reports that NASA is investigating a minor air leak on board the International Space Station. This leak appears to be minor and is little risk to the crew or the upcoming STS-122 mission to be launched early December. NASA is having astronauts inspecting the seals beteern the Destiny Lab and the Harmony Modules as well as the seal between the Harmony Module and the Shuttle Docking Port. The good news is that the tests checking the internal pressure of the ISS are showing no signs of decay. NASA hopes to have this issue resolved although no one on the ground or on the ISS seems to be overly concerned showing seemingly that this possible leak really does show no signs of being a major risk. | Call of Duty 4 VS. Mass Effect November 27, 2007 at 10:39am in gaming |
So I have some money set aside for my next game. I do plan on getting Crysis and UT3 for the PC, but as my upgrade won't be happening til Christmas, I'll wait for the new stuff before I get those. But as for my next game, It's pretty much a toss up right now between Call of Duty 4 and Mass Effect. I'm kinda leading towards Mass Effect as I'm a big fan of a lot of Bioware products (KoTOR, NWN imparticular). I played the Call of Duty 4 multiplayer beta and it wasn't that bad, but it also wasn't anything that special to me. Graphics were good, gameplay had some flaws in my opinion, but it still was relatively fun. Mass Effect seems to have a pretty good dialogue system and from what I've read, a pretty good combat system. I have heard of some issues regarding graphical glitches and of course long elevator rides hiding load times. Right now, I'm still undecided but it will probably be a week or two before I buy it anyway, if I do before Christmas. Oh, sooo many games.... Tags: thoughts, masseffect, cod4 |

| Thanksgiving Update November 21, 2007 at 7:04am in life |
Well, the end of a short week is almost over. Just had to work Monday through Wednesday this week as Thursday & Friday I get off for Thanksgiving. First job I've had where I didn't have to request off for Black Friday. Not that I'm really going to go shopping, but you know how it is...just good to be off. I played more of Knights of the Old Republic last night. Got to the part where I kept dying last time I had the game and what do you know, I died again, heh. Oh well I think I can pull it off this time. I hope I can anyway. The game is fun, but as I was talking with LJ yesterday, the combat mechanics are a bit off in the game. Not so much in a horrible, unplayable way, they should just be a lot better. KoTOR II apparently fixed that, but I want to beat this game first. I've decided to go Light Side, at least this time through, maybe I'll end up going through a second time as Dark Side as there is actually a different arc if you do, but I don't know just yet. I'll be bringing my hard drive, and some games home for Thanksgiving so I'll probably get more time to push onward over the 4 day weekend. I started working on the redesign of my website last weekend. So far it's coming along pretty well. Blog portion is nearing completion and the photo section is a work in progress. No time table as to when it will go live yet though. It's a big step from the current version and in my opinion, I think its a good deal better. Like I said though, it's a work in progress as I'm pretty much starting the whole thing from scratch. Keeping a few functions from this version as its simply easier, but overall, its a big overhaul. I ended up failing the FBI exam, and one would actually think I'd be disappointed, but suprisingly enough I'm not. I was actually on the fence about it, whether I wanted to make the committment, etc. so I guess I just feel that it's a sign and it's all for the best. It definitely seemed like a good job, just not sure if I could deal with all the committments and time that would be required. I'm definitely glad I gave it my best shot and tried, but am actually somewhat relieved now. I can try again in a year or so if I change my mind so no harm no foul. I'll be home til at least Saturday, possibly Sunday. Longest stint at home for a while. Not a bad thing at all, will be good to see the family again. Hell, we'll have a full house for the first time since who knows when. Philip, Julianne will also both be home from College. Julianne's not so much a suprise as she's only in Maryland, but Philip's trip from New Hampshire is a long one so, well I guess it's not much of a suprise either, but definitely a harder trip to take. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! |

| Some Funny Bits on the Writer's Strike in Hollywood November 20, 2007 at 2:16pm in videos |
I found both of these videos regarding the writer's guild strike that's been going on. I thought they were pretty good so I figured I'd post them. Seriously, as much as I'm not the biggest fan of TV, etc...some shows are great and their writers do just as good of a job if not better... Tags: humor, hollywood, tv, writersguild |
